WELCOME TO YARRAM PARK

quality : integrity : vision : performance

It gives us great pleasure to present this year’s draft of powerful performance bulls at Yarram Park. Born during the drought of 2006 and following the Grampians bush fires, they have had a tough start to life however have grown into an impressive line up of young bulls ready to work.

We are very pleased with a number of our new sires represented for the first time in this draft that offer balance, power, constitution and eye appeal.

These bulls include sons by LPG 38Z Command Lad 33L, WB Bear Mark ET 35N, and JNHR Standard Lad 329 J.

We are also delighted with the progress of many calves by several new sires which will be offered in the 2009 sale team. Standout calves include progeny from Yarram Pompeii A042, Falkland Legion Z251, 129D Superman 77J, Valma Southern Star and Braxton Westwind 120M. All these specially selected sires are either highly successful and well proven bulls, or progeny from dominant sires that have been influential in the Hereford breed.

It was another challenging and difficult year for all cattle producers with tough seasonal conditions over almost all of Australia. However Yarram Park genetics continued to perform in 2007, and we congratulate the many breeders who either topped or were in the leading runs of weaner sales through the Western District, northern Victoria, Omeo and Gippsland. It is testament to their excellent management and preparation of their calves for sale. Good luck to all again as the new selling season approaches.

In what we believe to be a first, Yarram Park was contracted to supply 25 young bulls to Russia this year, to join a nucleus group of Hereford breeders for the Russian Agricultural ministry.

Other highlights include the selection of Yarram Star General W251 for export to Ireland for the Irish Hereford Society breeding program. He is one of only three bulls selected in Australia after an extensive search by the society, and is now the third Yarram Park bull selected for export to Ireland.

Yarram Pompeii V055 and Yarram Lottery X122 continue to dominate breeding programs in New Zealand. Following the success of these 2 bulls in the very good Shrimptons Hill Stud of the Mckercher family, a semen interest in both these bulls have recently been secured by well known Haldon Station for their bul breeding program.

Congratulations again to Graham and Natilie Newnham for their excellent sale results at Glen Innes. Bulls from Cara Park sired by Yarram Pompeii V055, or out of Yarram Energizer P241 cows won Grand Champion individual bull, Champion Pen of 3 bulls, and Champion Pen of 6 bulls.

We look forward to your next visit to Yarram Park to inspect this year’s sale team, new sires and breeding herd.

A highlight will be the opening of our new bull display yards which have been specially designed to assist you inspect cattle in an extremely safe and relaxed atmosphere.
